Case studies

I was lucky enough to be asked to update the photography for Hulme Grammar School (HGS). They were looking for really informal photography that would show the happiness of school life, and wanted to ensure the images reflected the diversity of the school. This was also the first year that year 7 was co-ed, and there was a new uniform, so an entirely new bank of images was needed. I have captured pre-prep, prep, secondary and sixth-form school life through a series of relaxed images. I have also attended other events the school has offered – including Speech Night, Christmas Carols, The Addams Family Production – and produced a video for them after their brilliant ISC inspection. The images work really well at reflecting school life and the happiness of its students. 

Children 4 Most Day Nurseries is a group of family-run nurseries in Greater Manchester. The owner, Alison, contacted me in the summer of 2024 to see if I could come and take some new photographs to be used on their new website. They particularly wanted to show off the gorgeous outside space that they have, and capture the essence of their nursery. They are using the Montessori methods and wanted to display this through the images. Alison wanted two of their sites covered, so we decided a day’s shoot would be most appropriate.

We were really lucky to have a beautiful summer’s day where we could spend lots of time outside – in the grass, planting area, and with the play equipment – taking photographs. I also visited each of their rooms to capture different activities. At the second nursery, we used the remaining time to capture small groups of the pre-school aged children there doing different table-based activities such as painting and construction, as well as some time playing with different toys and activities.

I have had the pleasure of photographing schools within the Co-op Academy Trust for the past 7 years. I have produced website and prospectus photography for 32 of their 36 academies and also created photography of schools on behalf od the Co-op Group. I particularly like working for Co-op Academies because I really like their ethos of working with the whole community, not just the school.

I have photographed ages from 3-18 as part of my work with the Co-op Academies Trust and captured school days and events throughout Manchester, Yorkshire, Stoke-on-Trent and The Wirral.

Lancaster Girls Grammar School has been a regular client of mine for a few years now. I always love visiting here because the staff and students are all incredibly kind and accommodating. I have had the pleasure of capturing lots of prospectus and website imagery and capturing various events and productions.

The schools itself has beautiful viewsd over Lancaster which I love trying to incorporate into the photography too
